SMOKING IN NUMBERS

Smoking is the most widespread addiction in our world today. Some 1.1 billion people are smokers today. 4.9 million people die every year due to smoking. This means 13.500 people die of this reason every day. It is assumed that this figure will reach 10 million by 2025.

CONTENTS OF DRIED TOBACCO

Alcaloids, terpene, polyphenols, carbocyllic acids, alcali nitrates, aromatic hydrocarbons, aldehides, ketones, amines, nitrilles, compositions of N and O, pesticides and more than 30 metallic compositions.

MAIN SMOKE

The “main smoke” is the complicated smoke mixture that comes out of the lighted cigarette in a person’s mouth. 92-95% of main smoke is in gas phase and can be inhaled.

ARE PRESERVATIVES INCREASING?

120 additions were made in 1936 by Bruckner, 450 in 1959 by Johnstone and Plimmer, 950 in 1968 by Stedman, 3875 in 1982 by Dube and Green, 3996 in 1998 by Roberts. It is  more than 4000 today.

THE MOST WELL KNOWN POISONS OF CIGARETTES AND THEIR EFFECTS

They are poisonous, active pharmacologically and lead to numerous genetic disorders and cancers.

s1  s2

Nicotine

Benzene. Very toxic. It has been proved to crate leaukimea in humans. It is absorbed through the skin.

Carbon monoxide

It weakens the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood as well as weakening heart and muscle functions. It is a poison that creates impotency. All active and passive smokers lead to increased CO2 levels in the fetus and result in miscarriage, perinatal death and mental backwardness.

Styrene

Cancerous. Leads to headache, conjuntival irritation in the eyes, late reflexes, weakness, dizziness and nausea, weak attention, weakness in hand skills and lessened color sight. It creates higher chances of miscarriages as well as an abnormal sperm count.

Benzoapyren

Triggers lung cancer. Has caused cancer in all animal experiments until today. Repeated intake is more riskier than single intake.

Formaldehid

Cancerous. Long term intake increases risk of lung, pharinyx, mouth, liver, bone, skin, prostate, bladder, intestine and eye cancer, leaukime and Hotchkins disease.

Hydrogen syanide

An average dose creates rashes in the nose, loss of awareness, sleepiness, headache, nausea, weakness and vomiting in a human. Higher doses lead to dizziness, weight loss and digestion problems.

WHO (World Health Organization) Warning

s3

“Cigarette producers are selling products that contain high tar and nicotine levels, which they cannot market in developed countries due to restrictions, in underdeveloped nations.” Cigarette companies mainly target students. 1 out of every 3 students who taste cigarettes become addicted. This horrible addiction, which starts off like a joke, turns individuals into weak and sick people in the future. Never try smoking.

ARE LIGHT CIGARETTES SAFER THAN THE REST?

s4

No!!!! It was thought that light cigarettes were giving less tar to smokers when they were first released in the 1970s. Later research showed that people using light cigarettes had the same chances of becoming ill as others do.

WHY ARE PRESERVATIVES BEING INCREASED?

sigara2

In order to develop the physical characteristics of tobacco, to give cigarettes a longer life (to avoid rotting while being transported). Also to increase chances of being purchased (to make it taste better). Preservatives are also used for more ulterior motives as well. For instance, Nicotine is used to make it more irresistable and to make it easier to use. To make smoking more tempting and worse, so called safer. This way it is consumed more and more preservatives do more damage.

PRESERVATIVES

Almost 4000 preservatives are used. Permission has been granted for the use of 600 preservatives but neither the US nor the European Commission know of the preservative levels used in different brands.

A quote from the director of a cigarette company:

“We do not smoke this … We just sell it. We leave the right and freedom to smoke to young people, blacks, idiots and the poor.”

ADDITIONAL BURDEN OF PASSIVE SMOKING

Thousands of people die of heart attacks, lung and other types of cancer due to exposure to cigarette smoke every year. Thousands of babies and children suffer from lung infections like pneumonea and bronchitis. The additional health burden caused by smoking parents:

- Miscarriage (46.000 cases, 2800 perinatal deaths)
- Infant death (2000 cases)
- Bronchitis (22.000 hospitalized cases, 1100 deaths)
- Ear infection (3.4 million)
- Iffusionary ear infectin (110.000)
- Asthma (1.8 clinical applications, 14 deaths)
- Fire (10,000 clinical applications, 590 hospitalized, 250 deaths)

SMOKING AND WOMEN’S HEALTH

s5

Smoking women are more vulnerable to:

- Miscarriages
- Premature birth
- Underweight babies
- Impotency
- Increased heart attack risk in ladies using birth control pills

SECONDARY SMOKE

Is the type of smoke that spreads around the main smoker. Most of the elements of this smoke were proven to be cancerous in animals and some particles are even 10 to 200 times higher than the  main smoke.

THE IMMEDIATELY VISIBLE BENEFITS OF QUITTING SMOKING

Improvements are observed in:

- Wrinkles
- Bad breath
- Yellow teeth
- Gum diseases
- Bad odor in hair and on clothes
- Yellow nails
- Tasting
- Smelling
- Easier efforts in ordinary activities (climbing stairs, housework etc)

AFTER QUITTING:

- Heart beat and blood pressure returns to normal 20 minutes later
- Carbonmonoxide (egzaust gas) levels in the blood return to those same as non smokers 36 hours later
- 50% decrease in risk of coronary heart disease one year later, risk level becomes same as that of non smokers some 15 years later
- 50% decrease in lung cancer risk 10 years later
- Health is almost the same as that of non smokers after 15 years

WHY IS IT GETTING MORE DIFFICULT TO QUIT SMOKING?

s6

Numerous methods have been devised to quit smoking until today. The most opted are:

Nicotine replacement treatment, nicotine bands, chewing gum, acupuncture, shots and medical treatment. Shots prevent nicotine from reaching the brain. It has been tried on 3000 volunteers without providing the expected result. The aim of medical treatment is to prevent enjoyment of cigarettes and to create dislike towards them. None of these methods have provided definite results because the main reason for smoking is addiction!!! New methods are being studied to effect the addiction center of the brain. Acupuncture is effective only when it is applied, the addiction comes back when stopped. It is not permanent.

IF YOU HAVE TRIED MANY METHODS WITHOUT ANY RESULT WE ADVISE MEDITATION

How is the brain’s addiction center affected by meditation? Many researches have been carried out about the effect of Sahaja Yoga meditation on the addiction center in numerous universities in Australia, Russia, the United States, India, Argentina and Britain. Surprising results were obtained in people wanting to quit smoking and alcohol. This is a unique method because alcohol and smoking drops out without any effort in people practicing Sahaja Yoga meditation.

WHAT MAKES SAHAJA YOGA MEDITATION UNIQUE?

While freeing yourself of your attachments:

- The Kundalini energy, which is ready to be awakened within all humans, is awakened with Sahaja Yoga

- The Kundalini energy clears out blockages in the energy centers (chakras) while rising from the sacrum bone to the limbic area and corrects all negative situations. The Kundalini energy quickly cures all sick tissues and organs apart from dead (paralyzed) ones. According to the World Health Organization, the definition of health is being balanced and well physically, spiritually and socially.

- With Sahaja Yoga, the Kundalini energy doesn’t only work on the body and diseases but on these three levels (body, spirit and society) as well.

- The Kundalini energy finishes the addiction itself in Sahaja Yoga, and so, smoking and other addictions are given up spontaneously.

- Stress hormones are produced less and are less effective in people practicing Sahaja Yoga meditation regularly.

- According to scientific research, people who practice Sahaja Yoga meditation regularly emit 3.2 times more anti stress hormones known as relax hormones in the brain when compared to people who don’t practice this form of meditation. Thus, stress, tension and reactions reduce. Stress and its destructive effects on the body become minimal. The need to take to addictions such as smoking and drinking is less and such addictions are naturally dropped out in time. People do not feel the need for such things.

*** The individual will drop out all addictions that are harmful to the body over some time.

How long does it take to overcome addictions with meditation?

We suggest you take part in Sahaja Yoga sessions in your city to enjoy the benefits of this technique. If there are no Sahaja Yoga sessions in your city yet then you can learn how to meditate at home from the online yoga program on our website.

The time required to quit smoking varies among people. It depends on the person’s desire to overcome the addiction and continuious practice of Sahaja Yoga meditation. Positive results are obtained when the program is followed for an average of 3 months. Some extraordinary cases have also been recorded.  Some people with a very strong desire have been able to stop smoking within 2 days. Those people who say they like smoking and drinking and seek companionship in them or those individuals who do not meditate regularly take longer to quit.

The power within us

All humans have a dormant energy (Kundalini) within them which can be awakened. The Kundalini energy is in a coiled position within the sacrum bone located at the base of the spine. When the Kundalini is awakened, she rises along the parasympathetic nervous system within the body, nourishes and repairs all the energy centers (plexus – chakra). She also awakens the qualities of these chakras within the person.

She balances the activity of the organs and glands regulated by the chakras. Transmission takes place from the sympathetic nervous system to the parasympathetic nervous system and a constructive energy starts functioning in the body rather than a destructive one. This is one of the reasons why people look much younger than their real age in Sahaja Yoga.

Habits, addictions, behaviour, reactions, method and quality of communication all come into balance in a person whose Kundalini is awakened. Your Kundalini energy can easily be awakened with Sahaja Yoga meditation. You can experience this immediately if you wish. You must meditate regularly to be able to overcome your addictions such as smoking and drinking. You can attend Sahaja Yoga centers or programs in your city. If there are no programs then you can try signing up to our online course.
